Wallace Baxter (member) treated the club to some wonderful images, including this squirrel jumping, in the course of a second talk entitled Digital Photography. I wonder how many members will be hoping for digital cameras this Christmas.
John Ballinger, a Club Member, gave a second informative and entertaining talk about the tyre industry. He focussed on the specialist market of tyres for the earth moving and mining indutries. Here tyres can be the height of a double decker bus in diameter and have a tread width as wide as a bus! The machines are so big they have to be assembled on site and tyre size is limited by the need to transport them to site.
President Malcolm joins the Fire Service after a stimulaing talk by Hannah Caulfied. a fire officer at Crewe Fire Station, which emphasised the scope of work undertaken by the modern fire service.
